WindSketch Is Making Project Sketches Smarter — Now with 150+ Million Building Footprints Across the U.S.

In the window and door industry, speed has always mattered. A project sketch is not just a drawing; it is the foundation for estimating, permitting, installation planning, and now wind pressure analysis.

WindSketch has always provided powerful tools for creating these layouts manually, giving users full control over every detail. Now, we are introducing a new intelligent sketch-generation feature designed to support that process—helping companies create project layouts faster, with greater efficiency, and with a strong, data-driven starting point.

WindSketch’s engineering team conducted extensive research to transform complex geospatial data into practical, editable information inside the WindSketch editor. This allows the platform to generate accurate building footprint recommendations from a single project address, giving users a smarter starting point without losing control over the final sketch.

With more than 150 million building footprints across the United States now available within WindSketch, users can access immediate, data-backed starting points for their projects at an unprecedented scale.

Users will still have full control. They can draw the project map manually, as they always have, using WindSketch’s mapping tools. But now, when creating a project, they can also choose an intelligent recommendation that automatically generates the initial sketch.

This is not intended to replace the professional judgment of the user. It is designed to remove repetitive work, accelerate setup, and give teams a stronger starting point.

The impact goes beyond mapping.

WindSketch’s tools already help companies create detailed project layouts, add installation symbols, export PDFs, and communicate clearly with clients and installers. More recently, WindSketch launched Wind Pressure Analysis Reports, helping Florida contractors order engineer-certified documentation with far less manual data entry.

This new sketch-generation technology connects directly to that larger vision.

For wind pressure analysis, accuracy begins with the building itself. Dimensions, height, roof type, and structural geometry all matter. In many systems, the contractor is responsible for entering much of that information manually. WindSketch is taking a different approach. By using advanced data processing, artificial intelligence, and spatial modeling, the platform can automatically pre-capture critical building information and support more precise wind pressure calculations.

That means less guesswork, fewer manual steps, and a smoother path from project address to estimate, sketch, and wind documentation.

The system is especially powerful because it is not limited to dense urban areas. By combining multiple layers of processed data into a single intelligent model, WindSketch can support highly accurate recommendations even in many rural locations where traditional mapping approaches fall short.

This is another step toward a larger goal: making WindSketch the fastest and simplest platform for window and door companies to move from first visit to professional estimate, and from manual workflows to intelligent automation.

A sketch used to begin with a blank canvas.

With WindSketch, it can now begin with intelligence.
